If you ask a question in the “Ask a Doctor” section, post a comment, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us by email, we collect only what you choose to share, for the specific purpose stated at the point of collection. Any health-related information you share when asking a question is used solely to respond to your query and is not used for any other purpose.
Newsletter subscription. When you subscribe, we collect your email address (and name, if provided) solely to send health articles, updates, and notifications. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you may also withdraw consent at any time by writing to us at the contact address below — withdrawal is as simple as giving consent. Your email address is never sold or rented to third parties.
Comment system. When you comment on an article, your name, email address (not publicly displayed), comment text, and IP address (for spam prevention) are stored on our server. The name and comment text you submit are visible to other readers — please avoid sharing sensitive personal or medical information in comments. We reserve the right to remove offensive, misleading, or spam comments without notice.
Children’s data. Under the DPDP Act, anyone under 18 is a “child.” We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without verifiable parental or guardian consent, and we do not use children’s data for behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law:
- Comments: retained as long as the associated article remains published, unless you request deletion.
- Newsletter subscriber data: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- “Ask a Doctor” queries: retained only as long as needed to respond, then deleted or anonymised, unless you request otherwise.
- Analytics/log data: retained in accordance with our analytics provider’s standard retention periods.
Where we intend to erase your personal data upon the withdrawal of consent or the end of the specified purpose, we will, where required, notify you at least 48 hours in advance so you have the opportunity to engage with us if you disagree.

- Access — obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is being processed.
- Correction and completion — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected for.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, as easily as you gave it, without affecting the lawfulness of processing done before withdrawal.
- Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us directly, and receive a response within a reasonable time.
- Nominate — nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
How to exercise these rights. Write to us at the contact address below with your request. We will verify your identity where necessary and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Escalating to the Data Protection Board of India. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India, the regulatory body established under the DPDP Act to address such grievances.
Children’s privacy
Under the DPDP Act, anyone under the age of 18 is considered a “child.” This website is intended for a general audience, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian. We do not use children’s personal data for behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising.
We recognise that health information services — including “Ask a Doctor” — may fall within the limited exemptions the DPDP Rules provide for healthcare-related processing of children’s data. Even so, we encourage minors to involve a parent or guardian when submitting health questions, and if we become aware that a child has shared personal or health data without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised accordingly.
